Weesp & Muiden Day Trip (16 Feb, Sat) (Part 2)

Continuing the tour of Weesp old town center...

We were walking towards Fort Ossenmarkt. I shall give a brief description of these fortifications.

Stelling van Amsterdam (Defense Line of Amsterdam) is a 135 km long ring of fortifications around Amsterdam, consisting of 42 forts located between 10 to 15 kilometers the centre, and lowlands that can easily be flooded in time of war. The flooding was designed to give a depth of about 30 cm, insufficient for boats to traverse. Any buildings within 1 km of the line had to be made of wood, so that they could be burnt and the obstruction removed. The Stelling van Amsterdam was constructed between 1880 and 1920. The invention of the aeroplane and tank made the forts obsolete almost as soon as they were finished. Extracted from Wikipedia.

Visitors were not allowed inside the fort and we decided to go back to the old town center. Anthony spotted vast greenery beside the fort and led us there.

More tickets booked

Will be going to Paris for a 4 day tour from 9 to 12 May. Taking Eurolines coach which costs 33.85 euros only. Quarter 4 will involve lots of traveling for us which is great as we are suffering now with the numerous modules we are taking currently.

I really hate Flight Dynamics. It is a torture to read through the 600 page of notes with formulas on every page. A sadistic module indeed.

Weesp & Muiden Day Trip (16 Feb, Sat) (Part 1)

I spent some time researching on nice places to go in Netherlands and came across Muiden Castle. It looked quite nice and enjoyable place to go so i decided to plan a day trip there.

We took train from Delft to Weesp and had to change train at Leiden Centraal. The train ride took about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Woke up and thought it was raining or still dark. It was actually thick fog that had suddenly enveloped Delft. Tuesday was rather warm and sunny but Wednesday was foggy and freezing.
