Last Paper to Go!!

>> Monday, April 30, 2007

After the long exam period, finally it's down to the last paper which is Introduction to Aircraft Design & Manufacturing on thursday.

Had my thermodynamics paper today and i think i did well enough to get at least a B+. Didn't remember some of the long formulas required for 1 particular question but it's alright. Managed to correct a careless mistake within the last 10 minutes as i forgot to take into account isentropic efficiency.

Was in good spirits today although the memory of my maths error still haunts me. 2.5 more days to the end of the WORST semester i ever had in NTU.

A visit to Video Ezy cost me $30 and got me 3 dvds. Can't resist the promotion price of only $10 for each selected dvd. These are some movies which i wanted to watch in the theatres but didn't get the chance to.

4 Down, 2 More

>> Thursday, April 26, 2007

Had my Maths 4 paper today.

It was another manageable paper but i didn't think i did well due to my stupid careless mistakes. At first, i thought there was only half an hour for a question as my previous 2 papers had 5 questions each. I only realized in the 3rd question that the maths paper had only 4 questions and i had been rushing through the earlier questions.

That probably resulted in one of the most stupid error i ever commited. I drew the radius of the circle wrongly when shifting the center.

Felt like a knife stabbed into my heart when i realized the error after the paper. Anyway, it's over and don't feel like talking about it although i'm sure the mistake will drop 1 grade for my maths results.

Maths has always been one of my more confident papers but sadly this time, it's not.

Anyway, Thermodynamics paper next monday. Will try to concentrate and study in the library today and not think of the errors again. :(

Had Aerospace Materials paper today. It was an okay paper and i did okay only, i think. Screwed up a few questions as i didn't memorise the notes thoroughly.

Went to NUS library to study after the exam and it was rather unproductive as i slept at 4 am the day before. Gotta rush for the next 2 days to cover everything for my Maths 4 exam on thursday.

I must endure!!! Just 9 more days to go. 13 more days to start of EID in fact. EID is a compulsory intersem for all MAE students and we have to go to school every weekday for 5 weeks. "Happy" ending after my exams indeed!

Lazin Around

I've been lazin' around after my Aerodynamics exam and just a few chapters into Aerospace Materials.

I'm researching on tour packages that go to Xinjiang, China, Tibet, etc coz i stumbled upon some pictures that are absolutely beautiful. It'll be hard to find people who wanna go coz i think it'll be quite expensive.

Muahaha......

Aerodynamics exam is over!!! The worst nightmare is over. Our lecturers decided not to kill us after all. It was a relatively manageable exam and Mr Falkner-Skan's equations did not appear. A joyful day indeed!

Alas, i committed a few careless mistakes and it might pull my grade down. Would be very satisfied if i get A- for this module.

Next up, Aerospace Materials exam next monday. Haven't started revision for the exam yet.

1 paper down. 5 more to go. Completed BS803 Science or Fiction? Biology in Popular Media just now. Most of us completed the paper in half an hour as the paper only consists of 40 MCQs. However, we had to wait until an hour is up before we can leave the examination hall.

The questions are generally quite easy and do not require thorough reading of the notes to pass. Should be able to get an S for it as i had S/Ued the elective.

Next up, the most feared Aerodynamics exam tomorrow. It would be a huge relief when the exam is over.

Due to problems in subject matching, all 5 of us aero ppl are unable to go University of Hertfordshire for exchange. Man, it sucks but i had this bad feeling at the back of my mind.

My luck could only take me this far this time.

Would be trying for an overseas attachment if possible. I just wanna go overseas for goodness sake. Why are there so many problems involved?

Anyway, it was a bad day in school today. I do admit that i'm sometimes a little petty but i HATE ppl lying to me. I would hate it even more if the person thinks that it's ok. One of my pet peeves is that the person says that he/she has not studied for the exams yet but actually has spent quite a lot of time studying. Plain hypocrite. What's their point of not telling right? What's there to hide?

What is worse is that i get along with the person well most of the time. I wouldn't give a damn if i'm not close to the person but i would kick up a fuss if i know the person well. This sounds like i'm an incredibly difficult friend but obviously i'm not. Haha.....

I just wanna get it off my chest. I think my bad mood is mostly induced by exam stress. Will be studying intensively the next few days. 20 more days to go.

End of Photo

Today is the last lesson for Introduction to Black and White Photography. It has been an intensive, frustrating, time consuming, yet enjoyable module. Selected my 15 final prints to be submitted. My theme is Solitude and it will be the title for this portfolio. Apparently, the order of photo viewed is important as well and some thought had been spent planning how to arrange and link everything together. The photos are as follows, enjoy....

Relief of workload

We had our presentation for aero design today, submitted our 40 plus pages of group report, and demonstrated the prototype.

We had put in quite a lot of effort in the prototype and we had to take a group photo to remember the hard work we put in.

Haven't been checking out the new dvd releases and bought 2 at one go. Babel and Hard Candy added to my dvd collection.

Support original dvds! That's the only original stuff i support though. Opps... haha...

Handing in of portfolio and 3 page artist research paper next week. Handing in of Aerodynamics assignment 3 next week. Handing in of 20 page Aerospace Materials report next week.

Thankfully, all these assignments have been completed during the past few days. Next week is the final week of school before exams starts. FINALLY.......

I hate Clarence! (just kidding) Always telling me about his US adventures. Touring around to so many US cities (miami, orlando, bahamas, etc) , sky diving, skiing, driving around, climbing some stone mountain, etc. So shiok!!!

I'm super envious of him and the aero ppl there on exchange.

I wanna wanna wanna wanna go exchange!!!!!!

I'll be really disappointed if my subject matching is not approved.

Zapped of my life

>> Monday, April 02, 2007

Arggg..........

I just returned home from school at 10.30 pm. Why???? Why is my life so tragic? I haven't finished my 20 page aero materials report and aerodynamics is super tough. I seriously can't understand Falkner-Scan equations and applications! The exams are in 2 weeks time!

Stayed back in school to complete the prototype from the aero design project and after overcoming MANY difficulties, (i mean MANY) we managed to put it all together.

What a relief when the fans started spinning simultaneously after many attempts at connecting the wires, the switch, the variable resistors, the motor, etc. Some of the resistors got burnt and it was a hassle to find the resistance we want considering the fact that we need the 2 fans to spin at the same speed.

Uncompleted interior of prototype

Completed High Rise Rescue Vehicle with controller at the back

This prototype took us nearly 1 week to complete and we had spent many trips to buy stuff like balsa wood, rotors, wheels, resistors, wires, etc...

This semester is really a life-sucker, brain-drainer, time-eater, and stress-inducer.
