Huo Yuan Jia!

Went to watch Fearless with Jiayun at West Mall today. The movie started off with exhilarating fight scenes and the fight choreography is impressive! Jet Li's execution of movements is fluid yet powerful, swift and experienced. Cut to thirty years ago, we travel back in time to see the making of the martial arts expert, Huo Yuan Jia.

After a humiliating defeat during his childhood, he vowed never to be beaten by any opponent again. He grew up to be a fine practitioner of martial arts and his fighting scorecard was unrivaled.

This movie is basically a story of a man who erred and learnt from his past mistakes. Simple it might be but it is effective in bringing out the meaning behind his story which is also deeply philosophical. Jet Li brings out Huo Yuan Jia's character very well and it is definitely the first film which i thought Jet Li acted exceptionally well. Too bad it is Jet Li's final martial arts film, too bad.

Humans are flawed, even heros like Huo Yuan Jia commit mistakes. What is most important is that we learn from our mistakes and make sure that we never do anything which we will regret for life. Fearless is a life journey of a man who is willing to change and be a better man, not only for himself but for other people as well. The film actually does not support violence, it promotes civility, respect and honour instead.

Everyone should watch this film for its educational message behind this movie. A movie with high entertainment value with an engaging and moving story to boost. Nowadays, with all those fighting movies with so many special effects , Fearless is a rare fighting extravaganza with little computer alterations. Highly recommended!
