Encounter

My JC classmate, Edwin, had organised a 21st birthday party at his house yesterday. My classmates and i went orchard in the afternooon to buy him a present. Orchard was as usual packed with thousands of people. I joined my friends slightly later coz i was busy packing my stuff into boxes. We walked around Far East Plaza without a clue what to buy. We then headed to Taka branded section and went inside LV. We were constantly amazed by the price tags and left the boutique promptly. Someone suggested MP3 player and we headed to Best to check out the prices. The price of Creative 256 mb player was $203 including GST. There were some other cheaper brands with 256 mb but we didn't really consider them coz we don't really trust the other brands.

We then went Sim Lim Square in Terence's car to buy the MP3 player. Had quite a tough time finding parking lots though. We checked out the prices in different stores but all were selling Creative 256 mb player at $175. Negotiated at a shop for $170 before buying it. 8 of us shared the present and each had to pay $21.25. Rather expensive but it's 21st birthday so must buy more expensive one.

Reached Edwin's house at 6.30 pm and some of his relatives had already reached. We took some food and sat on the chairs in the his garden. It was a bit boring at first coz we had nothing much to do after we finished our food. We requested for poka cards and began playing bridge. About half of my classmates did not know how to play and they learnt the basic skills after our coaching and playing for some rounds.

Time to cut the cake, Edwin took photos with his family, sec sch friends, army mates and finally us the JC friends before blowing the candle.

Some of his cheeky sec sch friends asked him to kiss his girlfriend and he declined as it was embarrassing in front of so many people. Many people started to cheer him on for the kiss and he finally obliged. Did not manage to capture the kiss coz my digicam would auto-focus before capturing the shot and will have a time lag of about 2 seconds.

We continued our card games and played 21 points with bets. Derrick was the dealer and most of us had bets between 20 cents to 50 cents. It was exciting because there would be a blackjack almost every round and everyone was rooting for the dealer to "bomb" or exceed 21 points everytime he drew a card. It was really fun and everyone had a great time.

We stayed there until around 11.30 pm and we took some photos with Derrick's new Mini Cooper before we left. It is really quite cute and the interior is rather cool.

The girls wanted to go home after that and Jimmy, Terence and Derrick sent them home. Took some photos of the interior of Derrick's car while sitting behind.

The speedometer was in the centre glowing with red light and there is also a digital speedometer telling you the exact speed. The bad thing about mini coopers are that it is rather bumpy when travelling at low speed and the windows and windscreen is lower than most cars, creating an enclosed feeling for the passengers. The five of the guys including me decided not to go home so early and we contemplated where to go again. Terence sent supper to his girlfriend's house and we decided to go choa chu kang coz Edwin was driving his girlfriend home at cck and we thought we might meet up with Edwin later.

The mini cooper was too fast for Terence's old nissan march to catch up and we broke contact for a few times. Most of us were too full for supper and we were driving around aimlessly. I had to take a leak and we stopped at Yew Tee mrt for a while. We drove aimlessly again later and we were kind of lost. We were driving along a road in Kranji Industrial Area and Clarence told me that this road will lead to Kranji Reservoir. I was rather excited because the scenery along Kranji bridge is fabulous. The last time i went there was during exercise long walk which we had to walk from ntu to kranji then to bukit timah. We drove past the bridge and we could see the lights from Johor across the vast stretch of water. But it was too dark to fully appreciate the wonderful view of area.

There were a few cars in the carpark and we being the kaypoh guys, drove past the cars slowly hoping to see some action. The bad thing is that the lamp posts are very few and we did not dare to flash the high beam too close to the car. All i could see is a guy whose seat is inclined far backwards and i did not catch the sight of someone else although Terence assured that he saw 2 people in the car. Well, i guess that might have been the case since why would anyone drive alone after midnight to such a deserted place? We did not stay for too long in the carpark and we drove along Kranji way which was headed to Lim Chu Kang. Terence turned his car into a side road Neo Tiew Crescent and we drove along the empty road for about 800 meters. I checked behind if Derrick's car was following behind us but they did not follow us. Then, we decided to U-turn as we did not know where this road was heading towards and the road seems too be very long ahead. Terence swerved his car to the right to do a 3 point turn as the road was only 2 single lanes. When he turned his head to check his left side, he noticed something on the road ahead of us. He told me "How come there is a box on the middle of the road?" I turned and saw something in the middle of the 2 lanes about 80 metres away from our car. I asked him "Is that a cat on the road?" But before i could receive an answer. I was totally shocked from what i saw. It was definitely not a cat, it was changing its shape constantly. The colour is white but it is slightly translucent. The "thing" stayed put in that same spot but it became elongated, pointed at the tip. It was turning its tip around and the whole shape was constantly changing. There is no face, no fixed form and totally non-explainable. I told Terence to get out of the place immediately as i was really surely that what we saw was what we should not have seen. Both of us were really really spooked by what we saw. I called Clarence immediately to inform them what we saw. Derrick, gs and clarence were waiting for us at the main kranji road.

They were at a disbelief to what we saw and they kept asking us whether it is true. They were definitely convinced when they saw our genuinely spooked faces. We described the whole incident to the 3 of them. They were shocked and stunned but they will not experience what me and terence had gone through. I will never forget the "thing" i saw on neo tiew crescent on 22 Jan at 1 am. Terence and i were complaining why we were so unlucky to see this. I guess Derrick has brought luck to his 2 passengers in his car because instinct told him not to turn into the side road. We went Boon Lay place for supper but most of the stalls were closed and we went Chong Pang Nasi Lemak near NUS for supper instead. Although me and terence did not have much appetite after the encounter, we still carried on as not to dampen others' spirits.

Left for home after that and shut my windows and door before going to sleep. I was still a little tramatised and took some time before dozing off.

I told my mother about my encounter when i woke up and checked out the exact location of the spot on www.streetdirectory.com.sg.

Never ever go to that place after midnight. The red spot is around the place we saw the "thing".
