Saturday Part 2

Went out in the evening to meet Jieli, Shilei and Weiting at Jieli's apartment for a mini birthday gathering (Jieli's and my birthday is only 2 days apart). We had some food while watching tv and played Monopoly and Blockers for the next 2 to 3 hours. Thanks to Shilei, Jieli and Weiting for the birthday present, i like the t-shirt design.

After fetching Shilei and Weiting home, i met up with my jc gang for a midnight show. We watched The Devil Wears Prada at Cineleisure and i was almost late.

The Devil Wears Prada is a movie about Andy, a young woman who knows nothing about fashion, working for a top fashion magazine, Runway. Her boss is the fearsome Miranda Priestly who bombards the newbie with work and errands. Andy begins to neglect her boyfriend and friends due to the workload and she gradually transforms to become a fashionista.

The movie is perfectly cast with Meryl Streep as the menacing and domineering Miranda, and Anne Hathaway as the meek, geeky and sweet Andy Sachs. We get to see the various collections of Valentino, Chanel, Prada, Versace, etc and the clothes donned by Anne Hathaway are absolutely gorgeous. This movie questions whether we should spend more time on work or with family and friends, and the answer is obviously the latter. A witty, sarcastic, comical and enjoyable film with good acting chops and character development. Fashion has never looked this good. ***1/2
