Watched The Art Of Seduction with Mb, Derrick and Clarence at cineleisure in the afternoon. It is quite a funny korean comedy and there are some scenes which are totally hilarous. Son Ye-Jin is perfectly cast as the innocent looking seductress who tries to get hitched by rich males yet playing hard-to-get at the same time. Her scheme is foiled by a male seducer who plays along and both of them develop a chemistry that is laughably offbeat and kooky. A nice show for couples to watch.

Next, Gs, Edwin and Terence joined us for MI3. The action-packed thriller is bursting with testosterone and there are gunfights, bombs, missiles, high octane chases, rescue mission, kidnap mission, parachuting, jumping off buildings, etc. It is immensely entertaining although the director has clearly sidelined the story for impressive special effects. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is extremely menacing as the psychopathic villian while the rest of the cast gets overshadowed by the action/effects. The pace is fast and we hardly get any chance for a breather. However, it is done in typical Hollywood tradition and does not break any new ground for a blockbuster. I appreciate the huge effort to coordinate all these impressive stunts though.

One thing to note is that Hollywood seems to be intent on breaking into the lucrative China market. Almost a third of the movie is shot in Shanghai and the cast includes Maggie Q as well.
