Mayday Concert

>> Tuesday, January 06, 2009

I went to Mayday's concert at Stadium Green beside the indoor stadium on Sunday evening with Kok Sheng. The concert was a great success and everything went very well. They performed quite a lot of songs (around 20, excluding guest singer, Ding Dang who performed 3 songs) considering the fact that it is a free concert for the people who bought the Singapore edition of their cd and went to redeem the tickets.

The sound system was very good, and very loud, fitting for a rock band's concert. I was partially deaf after the concert and i am sure many other people were as well. The band members provided good banter throughout the concert and the vocals (Ashin) were incredible as well. This concert was definitely value for money and the production values were excellent.

Sunday JB

>> Sunday, January 04, 2009

Went out with some of my jc friends to JB City Square for some CNY shopping. I got myself two polo tees.

Having breakfast at Kim Gary HK Restaurant

Having ice cream at Baskin Robbins

Having some food at Secret Recipe

Cute little burgers (kids meal)

Gs, Edwin and i went to watch Bedtime Stories (movies costs RM10 during weekends) as we waited for the gals to finish their shopping.

Bedtime Stories is one of the worst movies that i have ever watched. Please anyone don't go and watch it unless your age is less than 12 years old. I think i would rather my RM10 go to charity than to waste it on this movie.

An adventure comedy starring Adam Sandler as Skeeter Bronson, a hotel handyman whose life is changed forever when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true. He attempts to take advantage of the phenomenon, incorporating his own aspirations into one outlandish tale after another, but it's the kids' unexpected contributions that turn Skeeter's life upside down. Synopsis extracted from RT.

Personally, i find the jokes too lame, the story too childish and infantile, and the movie just bad. The bedtime stories seem to be written without much brains involved as it perhaps might confuse the kids watching the show. Anyway, i am not interested in describing the movie any further.

German Food, Coffee & Tennis

Met up with Sf and Bernard at Werner's Oven, a German restaurant in Siglap area. We had some german food and beer.

Prost (Cheers in German)

Knusperiege Schweinhaxe (Crispy pork knuckle served with mashed potatoes & sauerkraut)

Grünkohl mit Rauchwurst und Kassler (Smoked sausage & smoked pork loin served with green kale & sauteed potatoes)

I think the food was quite good but they complained that the food in Germany tasted better. We then headed to Black Canyon Coffee near Katong Shopping Centre.

Nice coaster

Having some mocha/iced coffee

Relishing the weekend before school starts on Monday

I then met up with my jc friends at night for a tennis session at Yishun Safra and i played really bad. It has been quite a while since i last exercised and years since i last touched a tennis racket.

Mini gathering

>> Friday, January 02, 2009

We had a mini gathering at my house on New Year's Day. Ys and Qy arrived at around 12.30 am and i only slept 3.5 hrs due to the party the previous night.

We watched L'enfant, a french movie about crime and child abandonment, and had a card game plus drinking session next.

The chips, beer and liquor

Playing card games (see how red their faces were)

I'm the only one looking normal i think

We had dinner next at Ramen Ramen at the Rail Mall before heading back.

New Year Eve Celebration 2008 (Part 2)

Continuing the new year eve celebration 2008...

Beer drinking started!

The latest new couple

JC group photo with a few additional members

Adeline taught us a card game called minimizer and we picked it up quite fast. The forfeit was to drink and i was rather lucky to avoid a number of cups in the beginning.

Playing card game

We paused the game for a while as the countdown was about to begin. We were given a lot of party spray cans and confetti mini pops and we dispensed all the contents when the countdown to 2009 reached zero.

The aftermath

Our hair were all stuck with the confetti mess

Trying to clear up the mess on the road

Check out the litter

Cleaning up is a chore! (just trying to look sad/glum to clean)

Most of the cleaning up was finished within 15 minutes as the manpower was a lot.

The card game continues

With Jim the violinist providing some 'soothing' music

Alcohol galore

Edwin's niece leaving

You can see how red some of their faces were (and some people who are already 'high'), lol

We drank quite a lot but were still sober for pictures

Cleaning up the mess after the new year eve party

Some of us headed for breakfast at 6.30 am after the party as we were hungry already. The new year eve party has been a great success and i'm sure everyone had a lot of fun. One year passes by and a new one now begins.
